Yesterday at lunch, Antonio told us about his estancias (ranches) where, among other things, he aged his special cheese. He promised to send us some and he sure did! […]

Today is Christmas Eve and it’s another beautiful day in BA! I took a long walk this morning while Phil went out again to look for some local art for the boat. He came back hours later with four paintings by Manuel Claro Bettinelli, a Brazilian artist who was born in 1920 and died in 2005. […]
Well, today is Christmas and here we are in Buenos Aires–sure never thought I would be here and certainly not on Christmas Day. Geraldine and I prepared Christmas dinner for the Phillips family and for the crew. Of course, we had turkey but that was only the beginning. Geraldine named it “A Global Christmas Menu” and she took suggestions from everyone. […]
It’s the day after Christmas and today Phil, Grant and I went to visit the Circulo Militar which is now a private club of sorts but in the past, was the Palacio Paz, a family home of the Paz family. This is a mansion built with materials brought from Europe and in the style of Louis XIV with lots of marble. […]
This morning, Phil went off shopping with Hugo and came back with another Bettinelli painting and two sculptures, one bronze with patina and one marble. They are just beautiful and I can’t wait for you art lovers to see them. They fit perfectly on the counter between the dining room and the salon (the bronze one) and on the counter behind and to the side of the dining room table (the stone one). […]
This morning, Hugo picked us up about 8AM and we drove to the airport to fly a charter plane to Cataratas del Iguazu, the famous Iguazu Falls that are about a 2-1/2 hour flight from BA. This is the scene of the world’s largest waterfalls. Hugo went with us for the whole trip and it was his first time there. […]
After yesterday’s adventure, it won’t surprise anyone to hear that we all slept late this morning. It is very hot today and people here have explained that one reason it is so warm in BA is that we are located right under the hole in the ozone layer. I don’t know if that is true but that’s what we have been told. […]
Today I went to the Buenos Aires Design Center and the outdoor market that filled the parks around the Center. The Design Center is small by our standards but this is the place to go if you need anything for the kitchen, bath or bedroom. They had furniture for other parts of the house as well but it seemed to focus on the three rooms I listed. […]
Well, today is New Year’s Eve and what a great place to celebrate it! Today we had a BBQ prepared by Captain Toby and cooked on the grill on the dock. Chef Geraldine and I prepared some parts of the meal but Toby cooked it all on the grill. We ate on the aft deck–the new cushions are here–and it was delicious! […]
What a way to start 2007! Phil, Grant and I all hope you and your families have a happy and healthy 2007 and that we get to see all of you during the coming year. We all started the new year by sleeping late and mostly hanging around the whole day. […]
