We arrive in Mar del Plata on refreshingly blue seas, a nice change from the brown of the Rio de la Plata. And the day is glorious with blue cloudless skies, warm sun and calm seas, the same conditions that lure thousands of Argentines to the beaches. Packed together like the proverbial sardines but on dirty brown sand rather than in mustard sauce, there is hardly room to move among the hordes. […]
This morning it was sunny and a bit warmer but cloudy and rainy as the afternoon progressed. It snowed from time to time in the mountains and that was lovely to see. I went to the town today to do some shopping. It was a bit crowded since some of the cruise ships were in town but that didn’t interfere with my shopping. […]

Thanks to good timing by the captain, the Straits are flat calm. I left Jacksonville late yesterday–flew to Miami–then to Buenos Aires–and arrived this morning in Ushuaia, Argentina. That’s approximately 4500 miles to BA and another bunch of miles to Ushuaia in Tierra del Fuego. Immigration in BA took only about 10 minutes, much less than the last time I was here but then I had to take a car to Aeroparque Jorge Newbery, another airport in BA, for the flight to Ushuaia. […]

It’s a beautiful sunny morning but chilly because of the wind. We had a champagne breakfast this morning with bacon, eggs, grits, etc. and Carlos was able to return to the boat for breakfast. Indigo left Ushuaia about 4:30AM and turned right into the Beagle Channel. It was a beautiful sunny day with relatively smooth seas. A tug boat brought the Ushuaia pilot to the boat to lead us out of the Bay of Ushuaia and then picked him up again. It will take about 12 hours to get to Cape Horn. […]
We spent a comfortable calm night in a cozy cove just north of Cape Horn on Wollaston Island and woke up to frigid rain, gusty winds, an overcast sky and cold temperatures. But this is a beautiful anchorage in Caletta (little bay) Lientur which is protected by land on all sides. […]
