Ushuaia and going to Puerto Williams: Monday – Feb 12, 2007
We are leaving Ushuaia today and the good news is that Captain Toby went through our agent in Punta Arenas and was able to get an exemption from the pilot requirement through the Chilean archipelago so we will not need to have a stranger on board with us for the rest of the trip. Rick left about 1PM to travel from Ushuaia to Punta Arenas to Santiago to Miami and finally to D.C. He lives part of the year in Dewey Beach, Delaware and that’s where he is going.
About 3PM, we left Ushuaia (with the local pilot!) to return to Puerto Williams to get immigration clearance to continue up the west coast of Chile. We arrived about 5:30PM–remember the plane flight was about 12 minutes–and we decided to spend the night anchored there. Phil and I tried to return to Lakutaia for dinner but that didn’t work out so we had a nice simple dinner on board Indigo.
