Recife, Brazil – Aug 7, 2006
Lots of work has been going on, trying to get the boat ready to leave. Roddy and the boys have been in the engine room all morning, changing filters and doing other things I am totally not familiar with. We left the area about 1:45PM and were out at sea until about 5PM. The seas were bumpy and rolling. We planned to go to Salvador which would take us about 40 hours but one of the engines was still overheating so we decided to go to the city of Recife instead. That was only about a 3 hour run. The crew is still working on the problem so we’ll see.
The captain had assigned watches to Grant and Will (Grant from 10PM to 2AM and Will from 2AM to 4AM) and they decided to combine their times and work together. First time I ever smelled popcorn cooking about 1:30 in the morning!
