Indigo at sea and Kitty, Grant and Will in Salvador – Aug 11, 2006
I went walking this morning for about an hour in this busy city and it was interesting. The boys have been lazy, watching ESPN (they have cable and satellite television here) and reading. Then they went back to Boi Preto, the churrascaria, by themselves (it’s a taxi ride) and ate a lot—they figured this was their last time there. I went to the Pelourinho area (described in yesterday’s entry) and walked around this historical area. Lots of shops, of course, and churches. One of the churches I visited was the St. Francisco Church, amazing because everything in it is gold. I have never seen anything like it—everything either solid gold or painted gold or gold covered. After seeing that, the other churches, though beautiful, were just not St. Francisco’s equal. This is an area to visit again.
The boys had pizza again and are talking about their first meals upon arrival to the states: Taco Bell and real Pizza Hut. They are even talking about stopping at a Taco Bell on the way home from the airport. Later, they went downstairs to the bar and to the sushi bar and met some young people from the area. Phil thinks Indigo will arrive tomorrow around noon.
