Indigo in Recife and Kitty, Grant and Will in Salvador – Aug 9, 2006
Grant, Will and I flew to Salvador today; it took about 90 minutes. We had reservations for two rooms in the Bahia Othon Palace Hotel which had been recommended by John and in our tourist book. The hotel was about as far from the airport as you could get, but it was on the beach. However, the beach here has a rocky coastline and there are only a few places that we would really think of as “beach”. We had deluxe rooms and they were very roomy, but a bit basic and not at all fancy. I had a king size bed and the boys each had their own bed in their room, which connected to mine through a door. A few of the people on the hotel staff spoke English and a lot of the signs are in English. We had dinner in the sushi bar of the hotel—we all agreed it was some of the best we had ever had—and the boys went out to explore. They definitely agree that they like this better than being on the boat at sea for their last days of vacation.
