Tobago Cays – June 3, 2006
The Tobago Cays are among nature’s most perfect places. Beautiful islands ringed with white sand beaches lined with coconut palms dot the area, and almost nobody lives there. We anchor behind a protecting reef but are otherwise exposed to the trade-winds that keep the day balmy. I use the tender to explore an islet just a few miles away that was a feature locale in Pirates of the Caribbean and there plop myself down in the shade of a palm tree for as fine a nap as I’ve had. That night on a nearby beach we grilled fish wrapped in tin foil, returned to the boat when it was done, and had a fine meal on the aft deck caressed all the while by the gentle trades. Hard to beat a place like this.
