Indigo in Buenos Aires: lunch at the Embassy – Dec 22, 2006

I took a walk this morning for about an hour; this area is a great place for walking.  Grant worked all morning on the boat’s stereo speakers, trying to get them to work the way Phil wants them to.  We’ll see how successful his efforts are.  At 1PM, the three of us went to have lunch with Antonio Caselli, Ambassador for the Knights of Malta to Argentina, a very active international Catholic organization.  Antonio is a son of Esteban Caselli, the man Phil had met in Punta del Este, and who loaned us Hugo, his driver/security guard.  We had lunch at the Embassy in his private dining room, prepared by his own chef and it was delightful.  Antonio speaks very good English, having been sent to London by his father when he was a young man.  Among other things, we talked about his father who owns a seven bedroom, seven bath condominium in Naples, Florida which he would like to sell so he could move somewhere quieter and less crowded.  That area has really grown.  Phil offered to help with that search and Antonio is to speak with his father.

Antonio and his family plan to leave tomorrow for Punta del Este for the Christmas holiday.  This is summer for his children so they are out of school for 2-1/2 months.  It is not unusual for people to go to Punta del Este this time of year; it sounds like it is quite the place to be, especially for New Year’s Eve.  We had a lovely Argentinian sauvignon blanc for lunch and we gave Antonio a beautiful glass bowl that Phil and Hugo had picked out the day before at an art gallery.  What a lovely lunch!

After lunch, Grant went back to work and I took a nap–that’s what wine at lunch does to me!  That evening, we went to another boat in the marina called “Unforgettable” for a cocktail party and met some nice people, including the BA plastic surgeon who had repaired injuries to the boat owner’s son.  Apparently the young son had not anticipated the strong recoil of a rifle he was shooting.  Grant and the two Kyles went out again tonight but did not stay the night–still a bit tired from their adventure of last night!  I think they tried Hooter’s again and maybe one other place.  Grant is having a great time!
